Result

Nominal output2.5V
Minimum output2.475V
Maximum output2.525V
Divider current0.25mA

Calculation record

Nominal resistor ratio

Vout=Vin×R2(R1+R2)=2.5V

Worst-case tolerance corners

Minimum uses R₁ high and R₂ low: 2.475 V.
Maximum uses R₁ low and R₂ high: 2.525 V.

Independent worked example

With 5 V, two 10 kΩ resistors, and ±1% tolerance on each, the nominal output is 2.5 V. The corner combinations give 2.475 V minimum and 2.525 V maximum. Divider current is 0.25 mA.

Assumptions & limitations

Unloaded DC divider with positive resistances and a fixed, nonnegative input voltage. Tolerances are independent worst-case bounds, not a statistical confidence interval. Load impedance, input-voltage tolerance, temperature coefficients, and self-heating are excluded. Enter resistances in ohms.
